Sorry, I can't be a servant!

7 year olds getting married. That's the 'WOW' of my day.
I explored Warwick castle today. It's magnificent, huge, and full of history!
By the time a girl turned 7, she was ready to start her search for marriage. If a lady wasn't married by age 16, she was considered a witch and often burned at the stake. When the informative guy said this, I promptly replied "Guess I'm a witch!" The audience actually found a silly American funny :)
I watched some jousting as well, it's NUTS how they'd battle back in them older days.
What's even crazier is how the servants were treated. They had quite a few rules, such as never saying a word or even making eye contact with someone higher than you. I couldn't do it! I'd be smiling and saying hello and such every morning! I'd probably get my head cut off too, which I hear they did that as well. Yikes!

yum, yum, yuck!

So many new things! Where to begin?
Well for one I still am getting use to having tea when I wake up, whenever I arrive at anothers house, during most meals, and before bed. I'll bet their water bill will go up due to the loo being used so much by yours truly! :)
I had one of the most wonderful... things I've ever tasted!! It was a pastry doughnut like bread filled with steak and delicious sauce. And for one pound, it was deeelicious! Their millkshakes, however, were quite opposite. With hardly any ice cream and mostly milk and cream, it wasn't a bit thick and both the strawberry and brownie flavored shakes had an overpowering taste of coconut flavor. I don't recommend it.
I had some of the best dinner, England's finest; CURRY! Chuck full of veggies, chicken, and shrimp.

Ohhh sooo gooood.

don't work your fanny off anymore

I went to the market today, got myself a watch to keep track of this new time.
 We have tea every couple hours, I swear! I'm using the restroom every couple of hours due to it.
Also, I had my first meal of "chips and fish" today! Chips is just another word for fries... there are quite a few words and meanings over here that differ.
"lad" means boy..
"use the loo" = bathroom
"shattered" = tired
"peckish" = hungry
"knickers" = underwear
ohh this is charming: "me duck" = my dear...
to natter= to chat
I found it cute, they say "trousers" instead of pants
and "village" instead of town
and a "torch" is a flashlight
and finally...
note the title...
"FANNY" means... the ladies "no zone"

Flying (grr)

Yes, first class was lovely. No, I did not get any sleep.
Well... once I landed I had a nap while waiting in the wrong terminal for over 3 hours.

Because my flights changed, I arrived in terminal 2 instead of 1, which my friends (Fred and Juanita) whom were picking me up did not know! So after a few hours of waiting I called my mom from an airport payphone, which guranteed me 30 minutes. I believe it gave me about 15 seconds before disconnecting.
I had no idea what to do, I was alone in a foreign country with no internet and no cell phone, and I only had the home phone # for Fred and Juanita; not the cell.
I took another nap, woke up bout an hour later with a little bit more concern taking me over. I was still chillin out at the airport!
As I walk towards the payphones to call my parents another time, it starts ringing!!
I answer with a "hello" and the person on the other line asks for ANGELYNN! Hurrah!! It was Fred! He got the number to the pay phone from my parents and had been calling it for the past forty minutes :)

So the scariest thing, by far, would be driving on the opposite side of the road. Especially when taking a turn, my heart leaps into my throat everytime!

I didn't know it, but the reason why they drive opposite over here is because back in the land of knights and horses, most men were right handed and thus, would need to be on the left side to reach out their sword with their right hand!

not even day one...

I know my work wasn't too happy to see me have to leave. Even the registers and computers acted up more than ever my last day. Kmart will always be there for me, but this opportunity won't. It also seemed Lewiston was saying goodbye as well. I mean, it rained near the end of August! I also got some free spot on yogurt, and a free pack of gum at the store. Not to mention my flight got switched up due to delays, thus making me FIRST CLASS and I get to go through Amsterdam! There have already been many pros and cons to leaving the country. Seeing my family all together the day before I left was indescribably awesome. My Aunt Gayle made the best zucchini cupcakes- with caramel on top! It was very relaxing and enjoyable; I'd say one of the best birthdays- and it wasn't exactly my birthday for a few more months =D

I think I'm still in shock about this whole being a foreign exchange student. It's weird, knowing I'm going to be that weird one.
